Dear Fic in a Box
So excited for ![[community profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/community.png)
ficinabox this year!
Things I like:
•Angst! Darker themes, and characters that face their metaphorical, or literal, demons or don't always make the "right" choices, and then have to deal with those consequences. Ambiguous or open endings are great, as are happy endings.
•Characters being surprised or annoyed at themselves for catching feelings for another character(s), and then pining for a bit. Bonus points if the characters are already in a friends with benefits situation.
•Humor or Characters who try to stay upbeat even when things aren't going great. I also like crack treated seriously scenarios. Outlandish plots are great when the characters are actually trying to navigate them.
•Battle Couples/Working together during a mission/competent characters (competency kink!) and the people who love & respect them.
•Bachelor/ette parties, or the OTP/OT3 going to the wedding of another couple, or weddings/dates/proposals getting interrupted. Or characters meeting at a wedding? I just like wedding settings. Bonus points for found family being incorporated into the wedding or event.
•Getting dressed up for some kind of event or party, or characters "cleaning up well" when they don't normally get fancy. I love this scenario when it comes to undercover missions!
•Snowed in/Trapped together.
•Road Trips!
•OT3 ships with V formations, OT3 where the V configuration starts to shift and the three of them navigate that together, or established couple inviting a third.
•Enemies to lovers (or an antagonistic relationship that changes over time).
•Discovering or communicating with ghosts or demons & exploring haunted houses/places. Making a demon deal or a deal with a witch, or using some kind of dark magic and getting more than you bargained for. I also like when the main character(s) is turned into a demon/ghost/supernatural thing, temporarily or permanently. I'm on board with a dark story line or horror vibes. You could also borrow from SPN canon.
•Going on a mission to save other character(s).
•Body swap where the character(s) have to navigate a "day in the life" and realize there's a lot they didn't know about the other persons' duties/job/position.
Alternate Universes I like: "what if"/fork in the road canon divergence, alternate first meeting, Dystopia/Apocalypse, In Space!, Professional Sports, magical realism, or Pacific Rim.
Things I like in art:
-Close up details, like hands or hair blowing in the wind
-Wide open landscapes, with the subjects being sort of small
-AU drawings, like alternative costume designs or alternative professions
-Ink pen & pencil & b/w drawings

-Compilation vids, like all the times a character says another character's name, or all the time weapons are drawn, etc.

+Experienced character teaching inexperienced character about sex, or characters working on improving for their partner (aka the sex doesn't have to be amazing the first time)

+Dubcon Mind Control - maybe someone uses their powers of control for sex, or they find some kind of device that compels the other person to do things? Super dubcon is great, but I just don't want the characters flat out saying they don't want it/don't like it.
+Dirty talk and/or Verbal humiliation, even if the characters are just experimenting with it. It doesn't have to be super degrading, but use of the word 'slut' for example would be fine with me.

Cobra Kai
Karate dads still have a lot to work out ((sexually)). I loved the era of them co-teaching so give me more of that, with wholesome conversations or awkward dojo sharing or outsider POV with the kids. Pining and growing feelings realization are great. Also love the idea of a road trip, maybe to get Miguel or Robby? You can put Daniel in a non monogamous marriage or poly situation or leave Amanda out, but I do think it's fun to read about her being supportive/involved. I like the idea of Daniel feeling bad about Johnny being alone, and then inviting Johnny to a holiday thing at his house or spending a holiday with Johnny (any holiday would do). You can also get a little wacky with the plot. Maybe a curse has been placed on the karate meet by Kreese or a witch etc. and they have to race to save the kids. Or they are forced to work together to break some other Kreese plan. I like when Daniel and Johnny have to confront their alternative parenting styles, so including any of the kids is good with me. If you want to write smut, seeing their competitiveness play out in the bedroom even with power plays, dirty talk, and manhandling or BDSM would be great.
I think this fandom is ripe for in universe documents/interviews/etc. Daniel is locally famous with his business, and maybe his karate championship, so there could a "where are they now" article. I like the idea of a journalist shadowing Daniel, and then realizes that Johnny is just always around. Or maybe the pair of them are trying to cultivate good press for their dojo(s) or promote an upcoming tournament. Or maybe the kids write up a report or something on them for school?
Dune
Feyd-Rautha is so unhinged and I'd love something that explores that dark side of him, and why he's like that. Maybe an AU where Paul lets him live? Or an AU where he and Paul meet earlier in film canon? What if Feyd was training his whole life to be Paul's betrothed (the Harknonnens didn't know or didn't care Paul was born a boy, perhaps?) but he is trying to figure out how to get out that arrangement? I'd love to see them fight out in the desert (or anywhere, really). They're the perfect ship for the trope where someone pops a boner during a fight. I also think there are plenty of parallels to draw between Paul and Feyd, so feel free to do that.
Masters of the Air
I love seeing John in situations :P Maybe some pre-canon fic with John learning how to fly with Buck and/or Curt? Pining at the Stalag? AU where Curt lives? I love when John is very competent at some things but extremely oblivious when it comes to Buck's feelings, so exploring that would be great. Mutual pining is great. I prefer fic set pre-war or during the war. Would also love anything relating to John being a flyboy, or John being horny AF, or John learning more about himself. Also, baseball AUs with John as a pro baseball player are A+. Bonus points if he's a 1940s pro-baseball player.
As for Rosie, he's always so cool and collected - how does he blow off steam or deal with his own trauma? I desperately want to know more about how he and Harry grew so close, too. How often does Rosie wait by Harry's bedside? Did any of the other guys raise their eyebrows at that, but Rosie made up some excuse about it? Do they steal moments to be sweet to each other? Post-canon, do they end up going to that jazz bar together?
Roswell New Mexico
I love so much about the clone situation in s3 and all of the head games, so any play on that would be fun. I love things that happen in the mindscape, especially accidental mindscape sharing. All of the alien fun things like handprints exploration make me happy. I've watched the whole show so your take on a coda or continuation would be fun. I'd also love to read a fic where Michael and/or Isobel to go to Oasis, and others follow after or pine or are needed to save the day. I want to know more about Michael being the dictator's son/prince of oasis. Or more about Max as the savior. Fic taking place in the lost decade is great. Maybe some secret college rendezvous? An AU where Rosa doesn’t die and actually runs away? I want more wild west fic now! Whether that's in Liz's mind or just an AU. Including any other characters would be fine!
The Expanse
•Space horror! Running from some scary aliens, getting trapped on a planet or a ship, space walking and nearly running out of oxygen...
•More political machinations. Maybe Camina wants to run for President of the Belt? Maybe Chrisjen has to figure out a way to outsmart an opponent using only her wits?
•Domesticity in space would be lovely. Seeing the 'ship do small things like cook or redecorate together? On the flip side, someone getting annoyed at living & working so close together all the time, so the other part of the 'ship helps them figure out some down time/vacation time.
•Hurt/comfort with old injuries (either physical or emotional) flaring up and the 'ship caring for each other.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
•Sam and Bucky back on the boat, literally doing anything. Maybe a sleepover? Maybe Sam teaches Bucky how to fish? Maybe Bucky and Sam have to go on a water-based rescue mission?
•They find some cursed object or get hit with an aphrodisiac in Madripoor. Preference is for the aphrodisiac/bad thing to come from some bad guy besides Zemo.
•Bucky still has Hydra issues to deal with when it comes to sex (past trauma, something isn't quite right, or just relearning what he likes sexually), but Sam is patient.
•Zemo tries to play mind games and get in between them by hitting on/making out with Sam or Bucky, and one of them gets jealous as hell.
