Snowflake #13: Cobra Kai Rec List

This reminded me that last snowflake I wanted to make a Cobra Kai themed rec list! It seems like there is a disproportionately high number of great vids in this fandom - and maybe that's because they were posted on AO3, which makes it way easier for me to search for and find them. It's almost impossible to search on Youtube these days.


Johnny/Daniel Vids: I posted AO3 links and then also embedded the youtube vids when available. All of these showcase the longstanding rivalry/enemies to lovers trope that I adore, and they also are just so well edited and upbeat!

I love the way the tempo ramps up and slows down a few times. I also love the use of voiceovers - they supplement the lyrics rather than take away from the song. This one makes me SO emo.

I don't actually go here, but the editing on the "hit me, baby," (Which I now have stuck in my head, so thanks for that) video is FANTASTIC! It's SO on beat. Also, your show appears to be trope soup, I approve.

haha, glad you checked it out :D This fandom has ALL the tropes! Mainly fighting as a form of intimacy, with lots of dudes and ladies getting bruised up. They announced that the upcoming season will be the last, so I'm mentally preparing myself for that :(

Are the seasons pretty consistent in quality? So far. I'm probably getting Netflix again when the Six Triple Eight film comes out, so might check it out then.

Seems like the internet agrees that season 2 goes really heavy into teen ~drama~ and that gets grating, but from my perspective the whole show is just a touch over the top so I'm not phased :P Season 4's villain is a tiny bit cartoonish, so it wasn't my favorite. I think the main characters themselves consistently got better over the five seasons, though.
