But they all seem to feed into the very public AO3, which can cause all those various community norms to clash when they run into each other. Oh that is interesting, because I forget that people come to AO3 via all of those different places. That also explains problems like people adding asterisks into their tags (because of TikTok) etc. That makes me think it's too bad fandom hasn't really taken off in AO3 comments - comments aren't really a spot where people seem to actually interact very often even though AO3 itself is so well known.
Yeah the whole monetizing thing makes things awkward/weird in the fandom context, especially on other sites like tumblr when people sometimes push their kofi and other types of payment pages pretty hard.
