It's a teacher AU, and now that I read it again I can see where I borrowed details from when I was a TA, so that's funny. My favorite thing about this fic is how I wrote Ray's kid to be so cute and inquisitive!

Toye was never afraid to go back into battle and stand by his friends, which made me think of Hufflepuff. But the fact that he got hit so many times, and always wanted to come back swinging, gives me the sense that he was proving something to himself or he wanted to make the Germans pay for what they had done, so I'm settling with Gryffindor.

best quality: Loyalty to Easy Co.!
worst quality: Not stepping in before Bill and Joe got into that fight on the boat.
ship them with: No preference really. Sometimes I picture him with Buck.

needs to stay away from: Liebgott. They just seem like they'd spit fire at each other.
misc. thoughts: I would have been okay with Joe having more screen time. Especially after he had one of the most iconic lines in the series - Joe Toye Day! I really expected to see more of him.

He just struck me as the kind of guy who cared about being a good friend and didn't want to ruffle any feathers, which is why I picked Hufflepuff.

best quality: Gettin' shit done, and never being afraid to be himself.
worst quality: Hunting random animals!

needs to stay away from: Cpl Chaffin
misc. thoughts: Even though he showed himself to be a very confident Marine, he still maintained certain childlike qualities and came off as somewhat innocent and cheerful. His mysterious backstory is pretty fascinating to me, just because we can clearly see his personality but there isn't much explanation of why he is the way he is, whereas many of the other characters talk a lot about their backstories.

I asked b/c I wanted to see if I was the only Q-Tip == Hufflepuff person out there, and apparently I am not!

I am also curious as to why Q-Tip is Like That. I headcanon him as coming from a backwoods family, getting into rap music, and rebelling really hard against the racial ignorance he saw at home despite only knowing other rednecks in real life until he enlisted. So that's why he talks exclusively like a Wu-Tang CD insert despite being from like........ rural Arkansas or wherever.

Oh yeah, Hufflepuff totally makes sense to me! It's a little harder to decide for Christeson, although I don't think we got to know him all that well during the series.

LOL That was the first thing I thought of.

I like that headcanon. When I lived in Oklahoma for a few years, it seemed that many men/boys were into rap music from the coasts. Music can definitely be positive influence when there wasn't much diversity around.
