retro_icontest Round 9. It was challenging but the categories helped me push myself. I achieved Hero status at the end (characterized by bold coloring)! Which was surprising because I thought I would be a Rogue (emphasis on negative space/crops) when I started out.

My first experience contributing to a fandom 'zine did not go very well... First the mods dropped off the face of the Earth and new mods took over, then they switched to a mostly tarot card project (seems like there are way too many fandom tarot decks available anyway?), and then they couldn't get enough artists to finish the deck, and THEN there weren't enough pre orders :( The worst part is I wrote my fic about Allison coming back from the dead because of the Oni way before the movie trailer came out! Obviously I didn't do the zine to make any money but it would have been so cool to see it in print.

I just finished watching OG Roswell and this is me processing!! I've been doing a bunch of Roswell themed things for

I remember talking about saving old entries and communities with someone not so long ago, and I didn't really understand the true importance of doing that until now. I've fallen for a fandom that is older! Roswell aired in 1999! And it's been so hard to find any posts and see what people were writing back then. Most livejournal links lead to deleted journals. I haven't really been able to find any fic aside from a few super long fic recs that lead to dead links. All of the icon posts no longer have any images or there's the big photobucket watermark on them. I kind of feel like an internet detective.

I google searched with the 'livejournal:' connector for ships and I did find three lovely ship manifestos for Liz/Max, Maria/Michael, and Liz/Kyle at ship-manifesto. The fic rec links are dead though.

I also found this fandom forum called roswellfanatics.net (Remember fandom forums?!). This was before AO3 and spotify and maybe even 8tracks? So all of the fanmixes posted on this thread are lovely and filled with nostalgia for me, but I have to listen to them one by one, or search on youtube. There were a few songs still available on box.com.

There's also a fanvids thread filled with dead links that lead to deleted youtube accounts or individual fan websites that have been taken down. It's so sad because I want to see! all the old stuff! There are luckily some that still worked. I'm embedding all of the Roswell vids/accounts that I could find so far.
