We finished Only Murders in the Building season four. It wasn't my favorite season because it got VERY meta about being an actor. But I liked how they tied everything together in the last episode. All the best friend vibes were very cute, too.

Captain America: Brave New World: ( SPOILERS FOR THE MOVIE )

Eastern Promises: I watched this movie because I saw someone talking about it on tumblr. It is indeed very violent and very homoerotic. The twist was handled so well!

Doctor Odyssey!! This show is so fun - it's hitting so many of my buttons. It's got the 'case of the week' vibe because it's created by Ryan Murphy of 9-1-1 fame. The cruise ship setting is pretty and also lets the characters spend so much time with each other. Most of the quirky minor characters have been really interesting, and COVID is an integral part of one of the characters' backstories (as opposed to being ignored, which I despise in shows set in the modern day). Plus the three leads have great chemistry and are turning into the throuple of my dreams.

We started watching Common Side Effects because it was created by Joseph Bennett - the same guy who created Scavengers Reign - and Steve Hely. It's trippy and engrossing - I can't wait to find out more about the conspiracy at the heart of the show.

I was gifted a Cobra Kai fic with Johnny and Daniel breaking up and making up!! I adore the snappy dialogue, and Johnny being an unreliable narrator - plus all of the supporting character appearances are so nuanced and fun, too.

Finally was able to watch Top Gun: Maverick because I got my free month of paramount+. WOW I think it deserved the hype. It's so fun and so compelling (even though Mav being in the USN for 30 years and only making Captain is very weird). I can overlook that for all the COOL SHIT they do in the film. Plus, there are SO many good ships. I'll have to rewatch asap.

Also watched Devotion with Jonathan Majors and Glen Powell, and Joe Jonas! The two leads have fabulous chemistry and I loved all of the costumes and scenery. It felt a little over the top at times, and the ending was way too sad :/ But I thought Joe did well. He fit into that stereotypical class clown role but he also had some convincing concerned/sympathetic faces at the end of the film. Plus he looked good in Navy whites.

The name of this gem makes me think of horror tropes and bloodshed. It represents courage and motivation, which are both important traits to utilize when facing your fears and warding off ghosts, monsters, and other scary things.

I got to write fic based on hollyandvice's fanvid for the Cap_Ironman Reverse Big Bang this year. The vid focuses on the angst between Steve and Tony during endgame, with an open ending. I really like the intensity of it. The fic premise is basically: Steve gets Thor to use the infinity stones and give him a redo in order to save Tony, and Tony makes a different decision about the direction his life should go.

I was selected to write for the upcoming Teen Wolf Horror 'zine This Might Hurt! I really need to wrap up my fic for that. This will be the very first 'zine I'm participating in, which is sort of crazy because zones were an early fandom thing? Seems like they are possibly making a comeback. I love the diverse array of monster characters! And the enemies to lovers trope is fantastic. This fic really embodies the monster mash song imo.

A really great whump fic featuring Jack dealing with pain, and Daniel and Peggy being great protectors. I loved the mystery weaved in.

I didn't sign up for Chocolate Box this year, but I did write a pinch-hit. And there are a massive amount of fics to enjoy. Here are my favorites:

★island breeze | DC Extended Universe/MCU Crossver, Diana Prince/Bucky Barnes, Teen
This fic feels like coming home. It's so tender and intimate and I did not know I could get into this pairing but yes, sign me up.

★a strange circumstance | MCU, Thor/Heimdall, Explicit
The AU where Thor is an orphan turned prostitute, but he can still see thru Heimdall's eyes. Thor is confident but Heimdall is much more experienced and more commanding. This fic hits all my buttons for this pairing.

★closed circle | Buzzfeed Unsolved, Ryan/Shane, Teen
This fic has some funny punctuation but it totally works because the story is creepy and gothic and Ryan is panicked but also getting shit done and I had a lot of fun reading this.

★recipe for disaster | Buzzfeed Unsolved, Ryan/Shane, Teen
A serial killer AU with a bakery angle - this is the only way I like my bakery AUs, apparently. And Shane does not give a fuck about anything except Ryan, and I find that oddly charming.

★praying for sparks in the dark (in the heart) | DC Extended Universe, Superbat, Explicit
Great Clark characterization. I usually don't like identity porn but this fic really worked for me because they both realize what's going on fairly quickly and there are certain things that give the other way. Plus, the sex is possessive and dangerous and very hot.

★Atmosphere | MCU, Thor/Heimdall
Not my usual ship, but the details are so vivid and heart-wrenching in this. Heimdall helps Thor deal with his new powers after Ragnarok.

★Buried Night | GenKill, Brad/Nate
A super sexy curse means that Brad appears in Nate's bed, but Nate doesn't know who he is. I love how Brad is both selfish and self-sacrificing in this. And Nate is pretty fuckin' smart, too.

★Hell Sick | Original Fiction
A super low-level but hilarious demon locks himself out of hell. This fic chronicles his random shenanigans as he tries to get back. The prose is sharp and witty and I would literally read a book about this demon.

★The King Under the Mountain | Agent Carter/Indiana Jones Crossover, No ships
This case fic is super interesting, and fits right into both canons! I love the nods to Cap, and how a lot of the Howling Commandos' personalities shine through. Plus, Peggy is commanding but not above asking for help and Indy is understandably smitten without being an ass.

★The Moon is the Same Everywhere | Teen Wolf/SPN Crossover, No Ships
A moody gothic piece. Dean's voice is so great in this. He's surprised by Scott and Beacon Hills, but he doesn't want to get too wrapped up in their business. And Scott really gets to shine as the new protector of Beacon Hills.

+Steve Rogers is going to be my fav until I die. And that generally means I like all the canon tropes about him. WWII fic is always fascinating to me. Or any fic about Steve's list in the 21st century, or Steve trying to figure out how he can fit in to the 21st is great. Anything to do with Steve drawing is totally awesome. I prefer a Steve who isn't a prude/virgin in the 21st century.

+Sam Wilson! There is not enough Sam Wilson fic out there. I enjoy his wit and his sarcasm, but also his loyalty and his fighting skills. He just seems so down to Earth. Anything with him trying to be like the team mom, or cooking, or otherwise being domestic is great. Also, Sam on solo missions would be really interesting.

+Peggy Carter was a gift to the fandom and I like all of the characters in Agent Carter. If you want to write about her or include characters from Agent Carter, that would be fun. Even if it's in a modern way, with her at SHIELD or helping other characters.

+Loki as a trickster or as the villian is very fun to read. Also, Loki after Thor: Ragnarok is such a gift. I'd love to read about how his relationships with the rest of the Avengers might have changed (or not), had he come back.

+Other faves include Tony, Natasha, Clint, Thor, Scott Lang, and Luis from ant-man.
