Last 3 books I read:

•Greywaren by Maggie Stiefvater. Maybe not as wonderful as the first trilogy, but Declan Lynch, my beloved!!! The sappy ending was earned and my favorite found family did finally make an appearance.

•The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. This was a book I'd been meaning to read for a while. The main character was so relatable and this one definitely hit me in the heart a few times, but I also could tell it was geared towards teens.

•People Like Us by Jason Mott. This book was very twisty and the format seemed so unique. The character talks like he's in a noir but it's a modern book, which made it so fascinating. And there's magic! And lots of grief and tragedy, too. It definitely has a lot to say about gun violence and being black in America. I'm just not sure I understood the abrupt ending.

Last 3 films watched:

•Honey Don't. There were so many genres mashed up in this one, it was hard to know what the movie was going for. BUT there were sexy lesbians and Chris Evans in a jock strap, so some of it was entertaining.

•Fantastic Four: They went OFF with the aesthetic. Everything was so coordinated and so baby blue! I loved the strong family vibes. I was annoyed that the plot revolved around a mother having to sacrifice herself for the good of her baby - isn't that what the whole superhero family should be for?? Why can't they all save the baby together instead of putting it all on her?? BUT then again I did like that everyone was fine with her working at 8 months pregnant, so I guess I'll let the tired plot slide.

•Thunderbolts* LOVED this. WOW, no wonder everyone was talking about it. I should do a rewatch soon. There were powerful group dynamics here, and yet each character maintained their own strong personalities. I loved how they showed Yelena's growth but also let her explore and confront her past alongside Bob and the rest of the group. I think they portrayed depression and manic episodes in an empathetic way. And I must say that Bucky was looking hot as hell.

I was annoyed by the after-credts Bucky/Sam divorce! But I liked the meta I saw on tumblr about that being more of a lover's spat then a complete cut-off. I was bummed that Sam never showed up at Bucky's side, like Bucky did for him, BUT I think that's because they really showed Bucky having pretty good control over himself the whole ep. He wasn't struggling emotionally as much as the other characters. Therefore, I headcanon that he called Sam and told him everything was fine and he didn't need to come :P

Omg Greywaren!!! What did you think of Declan's not good very bad days ending in the Fairy Market shootout?

Wow, I was shocked!! The set-up was SO creepy. I'd really love to see the whole series made into a show or movie, but that scene specifically would be so cool to see in live action.

YESSSS Idk if I trust Big Studio to do it right though. I really hope that if they do they choose the most pathetic looking Declan possible having his John Wick moment and killing and maiming and fighting. But also, yes I'd love to see these novels in the screen but I honestly think it'd be better if they did an animated thing like Arcane for example. I would kill for Fortiche to animate the whole Raven Cycle/Dreamer Trilogy series. Like I'd pay real money for that project to see the light.
I'd also LOVE LOVE LOVE to have Harry Lloyd voice Gansey lmao but a girl can dream am I right?

Oh an animated movie would be SO cool! That's such a great idea, and maybe lessens the a chance that a big studio would ruin it.

I had to look up Harry Lloyd but he seems great for the role :D

Lol, I'm also going through hulu movies because my subscription is up at the end of the month.

Recommend Perfect Days and Anatomy of a Fall if you've got time. Especially the latter. The script/writing is fantastic!

Oh thanks for the recs! Does Anatomy of a Fall have a tragic ending? Just so I what kind of mood I need to be in to watch it :P

Not a tragic ending. I'd say you have to be in a mood to concentrate, because it's a very dialogue heavy/dependent movie. (And IIRC a lot or all of it is subtitled?) Oh, and there's a lot of courtroom stuff, though not US-ian.

Thanks so much! We ended up watching it - such nuanced performances. And the court-room drama of it all was so fascinating. I'm still thinking about it 24 hours later.

Oh, good to know. I heard vaguely that there was a previous movie by Coen in a similar vein so maybe that one is worth checking out.
