Dear Horror Exchange
May. 17th, 2020 08:58 pmHooray for a horror fest! I love stories that lean into a character's worst fears and give opportunities to struggle/fight/plan for a way out. I also love when there are two characters (or a group) who stick together no matter what, and there are us v. the world vibes.
I also like fic that incorporates:
•Angst and characters that face their darkness or maybe don't always make the "right" choices, and then have to deal with those consequences. Or maybe characters have to make terrible choices to protect the people they love.
•Women subverting gender roles in small or large ways: in public, at home, or in bed (ex. wearing a suit to an event, being the emotionally closed off one in a relationship, not being good at "girly" things, etc)
•Characters being surprised or annoyed at themselves for catching feelings
•Humor or Characters who try to stay upbeat even when things aren't going great
•Ambiguous endings or hopeful endings (but everything does not have to be resolved by the end)
•Ghost/Demon/Monster/Supernatural entity's intent is completely misinterpreted (either in a good or bad way)
I don't really enjoy mundane AUs like coffee shop or library scenarios, but other AUs are super fun. Alternate Universes I read a lot are: canon divergent or "what if" re-imaginings of canon events, Dystopia/Apocalypse, In Space!, Professional Sports, WWII, Assassins/Spies, Pacific Rim, or Royalty AU (modern royalty or medieval royalty is great with me). I also have a horror tag where I talk about films I've enjoyed, in case you want to do an AU based on an existing film.
I am okay with minor character death. I am also onboard with ghost!AUs or dead main characters that are aiding people or haunting people/seeking vengeance on the living.
I should add that I'm okay with fic that incorporates or exaggerates the Corona virus, in case you want to explore that.
I am on board with monster/human connections as well, either sexual or platonic. Maybe a main character gets turned into something terrible and is hunted for it? Or the characters battle a tentacle monster/alien that they think is evil, but turns out not to be? And then they all have a good time connecting afterwards *g*
And I enjoy horror themes that incorporate sex scenes (or fears/shame about sexual scenarios). Completely optional bonus points for rough sex/manhandling kink, sex involving oral fixation, breath play, dirty talk and/or verbal humiliation.
