The next two questions involve NSFW answers about kink and smut reading, so I put them
What is a kink that fandom introduced you to, and you said, "Yes, Please!"

I discovered so much about sexuality and about the endless kink possibilities - I learned that I love bratting. And humiliating dirty talk (with after care). I also came to grips with the fact that liking penetration doesn't mean you're a "bottom" or a submissive at all times, and it also doesn't mean that you can't be "masculine" or the "dominant" one sometimes. I also learned to embrace being a "sub" sometimes, because that term has a lot of negative connotations for me that I'm still working through (maybe because of stereotypical definitions of male and female sexual relationships).

There was a Merthur fic that explored sounding, and that was surprisingly hot. Also, omorashi was never something I thought I'd be into, but when it involves power and dom/sub play... turns out I'm down. There was a really hot Merthur series that just nailed that kink.

Besides deathfic, rape/non-con, what is something that, no matter the pairing, you nope out of when it comes to reading?

When a couple is over the top mushy right off the bat. Especially if they are not together in canon, because I feel like it comes across as too fake. I.e. characters that say "I love you" a lot.

Also, I have mixed feelings about fic where there is anal fingering or "stretching" before anal sex. Unless there's hot dirty talk involved, I usually skip over the fingering or exit out of the fic. I am a cisgender female, so I don't want to act like I'm some definitive source on the matter, but for me anal doesn't really involve anal fingering. It's generally not very comfortable or sexy, and it's actually easier for me if we get to the main event. The few people with prostates that I've talked to about this prefer toys/dildos/butt plugs over fingers, or just getting to the main event, too.

> I.e. characters that say "I love you" a lot.

I once had a problem with a fic that I was submitting for a fanzine, because I was told it was too schmoopy. Thing is, while the lead in the fandom (Donald Strachey) is anything but schmoopy, his partner (Timothy Callahan) - in canon - is the absolute schmoopiest. So I had to show that while Timothy was indeed schmoopy, Donald was right in character.

But I do absolutely get what you mean. I personally nope out when someone overuses the term "lover" too much in dialogue. Once every 10,000 words is fine. But, at least in The Sentinel fandom, when it got to be every other paragraph, I barfed out.

I just googled omorashi... I had no idea there was a word for that. I've had that fetish for a few years. And now I'm going to go and poke AO3. Thank you!
