I'm Lucky and He's Nimble

Here is my manifesto/tin-hat post for the Masters of the Air RPF ship Austin Butler and Callum Turner. I started this post for the snowflake challenge, but now I'm finishing it for the
marchmetamatterschallenge. Also, there are some really excellent Callum/Austin RPF prompts at
hbowarkinkmeme that I desperately want to write so I'm counting this as rushed research before Callum gets married.
My absolute shippiest fact comes from this tumblr post. Austin and Callum were at an Elvis-related dinner together (September 30th, 2022), which means WHO invited Callum? Must have been Austin, right? Callum looks drunk and also like he's having the best time. Then, Austin is at the Boys in the Boat premiere party on December 14, 2023 and this is what they look like!! Drunk, comfortable, close, having a great time. I'm assuming Callum invited Austin to be his date for the premiere?

This article by V Magazine from March 2024 features Callum Turner. I enjoyed the interview and the photos are great too. When the interviewer brings up Austin, Callum doesn't miss the chance to sing his praises.
Here's the clip of the now-famous hip grab, when Callum surprises Austin by grabbing him around the waist! And then he lets his hand linger! I'm not sure what event this was for.
There is a post on Tumblr that I haven't been able to verify, but apparently Callum and Austin watched the Golden Globes together - just them - at Callum's place for a "romantic little night in." And Austin gifted Callum an ashtray!
I love this clip of them on set. They're making hot chocolates and Austin puts one single marshmallow in Callum's cup.
During this interview for Cosmo, they talk about playing cards every Sunday at a mutual friend's(Ruti?) house and bonding more after the show wrapped (even though it was during COVID). They also talk about playing baseball in Hyde Park. And they mention riding around in the jeep again. They apparently loved being in the jeep together, just the two of them while the cameras were on them (they've said this in more than one itnerview). Most important is that Austin mentions breaking his rib in a fight during filming! Which he know now was the fight with Callum! And Callum's nervous laugh indicates to me that the whole accident must be an ongoing joke between them. And then the giggling at the end is super adorable and hilarious. Austin really knows how to stare intently into someone else's eyes, my god.
And then Callum literally says he fell in love with him in this interview at the premiere!! Look I get it, he's British. Maybe that's how people talk about their friends. But then when he says also he's got a great sense of humor, so... and that little SMIRK. It sends me right into the stratosphere. Like what joke or memory is he thinking of in that moment?
Then Callum says he fell in love with him again during this interview, and you get to see Austin's reaction. He's blushing?? And he looks so embarrassed and delighted. Also in this interview Callum says [after talking about winning at dice], "I'm lucky and he's nimble." Ships have been built on a line like this before!
And then lastly, here's part of the interview they did on the Drew Barrymore show. It's a little awkward to me, but I do love how Callum and Austin seem to vibe off each other. Callum's huge arm slung across the whole couch and some of Austin's back is fun. And I think it's cute how Callum says he loves the valley while Austin is talking about being from there. Did Austin show him around his hometown??
The summary is: they clearly bonded onset, and have remained friends after filming wrapped. They hang out! Without their girlfriends! Even with a continent and an ocean between them, they make time for each other!

VMAN: What was it like working with Austin Butler for Masters of the Air, who was also just recently on the cover of VMAN?
CT: Austin is one of my favorite actors and one of my favorite people. Every day we went in together I was inspired by him. He brings such wonderful gravitas to Cleven, and humor. I think he nails this part.
