Writer's Meme for 3 Weeks for Dreamwidth

impala_chickI just started using the writing website/google docs replacement Ellipsus after argentum_ls' recommendation and I really like it. It's very aesthetically pleasing to me, plus it has the word count right at the top. I like the way the outline part works too where I can jump to different parts of the fic with headers. However, it's going to take time to completely transition out of Google docs because I have so many fics saved in various docs and I'm nervous about deleting everything. Maybe I'll just keep a couple back-ups, since I won't be deleting my Google account anyway. I do want to find an alternate email service though.

I've been trying to nail down Liz Ortecho's POV when writing RNM fic, since I seem to write mostly Max's POV.

Challengers Cuckhold Fic: Why is editing so hard :/
Masters of the Air Crosie Fic: I need to STOP writing Croz like a pathetic sopping wet child.
Shyan Fic: Ugggh, so much left to write.
Standrew Fic: Maybe it's too cutesy but oh well, I need to let it out into the wild to be free so it stops plaguing me.
4. A story idea you haven’t written yet.
Max Evans (RNM) running into a bunch of clones of himself in New Mexico and being properly freaked out.
5. First sentence of the fifth paragraph of an unpublished WIP.
From the Masters of the Air pre-canon WIP: He has dark curls that rested on his forehead, and a bright, blinding smile.

Feeling too leery of unknown websites to do this one.

The ellipsus default font sure is nice but idk what it's called.
8. If you had to write a sequel to a fic, you’d write one for…
I had a Merthur sequel sort-of of planned for the Lord Balinor's Son series in order to make it a trilogy but then my Merthur interest dissipated.
9. Start to finish, how long did it take you to write the last fic you posted?
I think a month.
10. What is the longest amount of time you’ve let a draft rest before you finished it?
I'm assuming "rest" means not adding to it or anything. I think 1 year.
11. A WIP you’d like to finish someday.
I'm going to finish the Masters of the Air pre-canon Buckies ranch fic! This year perhaps??
12. A trope you’re really into right now.
Solving a love triangle by making it poly.
13. A fandom you’re thinking about writing for.

14. Where do you get your inspiration?
Fanvids used to be super motivating but I haven't been able to find many lately. Now it's more about listening to romantic songs over and over, haha.
15. Favorite weather for writing.
Rain!
16. Favorite place to write.
A place that's slightly busy, like a coffee shop with comfortable chairs. Or the big armchair in my living room.
17. Talk about your writing and editing process.
*Side-eyes my icon* I like to do initial writing in big bursts, so that I can feel like I'm getting somewhere. This is the fun part, when I'm just vibing. But I've started to dread editing a bit? I feel like I have to be really focused and not listen to music or have distractions in order to get through the first round of editing. Then I'll do a second or third round and let that bad boy go.
18. If you keep them, share a deleted sentence or paragraph from a published fic.
Max sighed, a sound that reminded Liz of the quiet moments they often shared after having sex, or first thing in the morning when Max had just woken up. It was such a soft, delicate sound, indicating that Max was feeling safe enough to be vulnerable.
19. The most interesting topic you’ve researched for a fic.
I did so much research on 1800s/early 1900s lumberjacks because I wanted to write Shane as a lumberjack. Super interesting stuff, but I never did write that fic.
20. In what year did you publish your first fic?
It was definitely on Livejournal. 2004 or 2005.
21. When did you publish your most recent fic?
April 27 for smut4smut.
22. Do you ever worry about public reaction to what you’re writing? How do you get past that?
Well I worry that someone will review my fic on their podcast or talk about it on youtube or something very public :/ But I just lock my fics and hope that doesn't happen.

Sometimes there's a line I really like in the fic, and then I just use that. But if there isn't a line that works, I spend way too much time thinking about a title and googling song lyrics for inspo.

Date: 2025-05-21 08:01 pm (UTC)I read a horror novel that had a bunch of clones in it (that were spawned from the original person's blood), and I immediately thought of Max in that scenario. Maybe for a Halloween event I'll actually get around to writing it.
