Sense8 s2 ep2
Jan. 30th, 2026 09:16 pmI'm planning on liveblogging/posting as I watch season two, since I have some new people on my flist who are sense8 fans :D
Okay so I'm slightly confused by the Wolfgang subplot right now. Are all of the Berlin kings trying to get him to join their side? Wolfgang shot a guy last episode but I thought that was because they were chasing him. Oh but that guy was an enemy of Fuchs, so Fuchs is rewarding him?? Also, Felix owning a club sounds like the perfect job for him.
Whispers' family - so it seems like his wife knows he's a sensate and that he has to take blockers. But his kids aren't sensates? Is being a sense8 a recessive trait? Also, is he only allowed to have a family because he's helping BPO? Is that what they have on him? When they revealed that whispers killed Sara, that kind of came out of left field for me (Maybe I didn't pay enough attention last season) but I'm not clear on Whispers' motivation. Surely he can feel/understand how much he's hurting his fellow sensates.
Okay my little shipper heart loved when Wolfgang told Riley not to give up on Will. There was this undercurrent of tension there, like Wolfgang recognizes and respects (and admires?) Will's stubbornness.
The speech with Lito & Capheus playing off of each other and talking about what film means to them was really beautiful. I wasn't sold on the new actor playing Capheus, but that moment had great emotional pay off and I like him a lot more now. And it was lovely that Lito brought Daniela and Hernando to the premiere, even though shit got ugly.
Riley's Dad! He's such a fun character. He's quirky enough to just go with Riley's requests and not ask too many questions, which really fits the fairly carefree character they set up in season one. There aren't really any other sense8 parents that they can rely on for this type of covert operation.
Nita continues to be the best sense8 partner. Her outfits were fire this episode, too. I hope others get to find out this season. Especially Hernando and Daniela, I'm dying to know how they'd react. But also Rajan. Kala came so close to telling him in s1, but now it seems like he's been sidelined a bit.
The moment with Wolfgang and Sun (and then Will) at the zoo, watching a tiger pacing in its cage! I am not immune to obvious but appropriate metaphors.
I LOVE how it's revealed that all of the sense8s had this great decoy plan, and through sheer determination, Will wore down whispers until he forgot his pills at an opportune time. When Riley called them all in, and they all gathered clues - and then Whispers' face!! I got chills when Will delivered his threat. I'm looking forward to this showdown!!

Date: 2026-01-31 02:06 pm (UTC)The other kings see Wolfgang (as does his aunt) as the heir apparent they could win over to expand their territory, but he's also a threat considering he went one-man army on his uncle. Volker Bohm approached first, but he was a total dick about it and of course Wolfgang wasn't interested. Then Volker sent his goons after the guy who worked for Aunt Elke and they went after Wolfgang and Felix too. Fuchs is doing the same thing Volker Bohm did, only he's better at it because he went straight to buttering up Felix and giving him the club.
As far as Whispers and genes etc, you'll get more info later so I won't spoil anything here.
This is something I really really adore. I don't ship Will/Wolfgang personally in that way but I love the growth that they're already showing in Wolfgang. If you'll remember from the Holocaust Memorial scene where Wolfie is trying to decide what to do about his cousin, he is ACTIVELY HOSTILE to Will. I imagine to someone like Wolfgang, a lifelong criminal and German, a USAmerican cop is particularly irritating (as a USAmerican myself, I agree with that). But by now it's been months of Will basically wasting away and destroying his life to protect the cluster. So I think he's really proven himself to Wolfgang which is beautiful.
The replacement was certainly jarring at first, but I look at it like the change of Claudias in IWTV (if you've seen that). Aml was the perfect Capheus for season one, and Toby is the perfect Capheus for season two. The character goes through a lot in season one so he's not really the same person anymore. The speech is beautiful of course, and I love Dani's little look back at the interviewer like I will cut you bitch lol.
I love him so much. That poor guy must've been terrified over what happened to Riley and now he's a secret agent man <3
GAH Wolfie's mom is so tragic. I could talk about her forever.
YES!!! That is one of the best scenes of the entire show. The whole time Whispers thinks he has the jump on them and he's two seconds away from getting what he wants and then Will gets his ass.
Cannot wait to see your recap of the next episode!

Date: 2026-02-01 07:21 am (UTC)Ah okay, so now I'm thinking we'll get to see the different 'negotiation' styles of all of the Berlin kingpins. Wolfgang could basically be the gangsta prince he never wanted to be and have his choice of reward - I'd kinda love to see him give that all up and walk away from Berlin for Kala/the other sensates.
Oh yes, totally justified that a lot of them didn't like Will at the beginning. Will definitely had to do something big to earn his trust in particular. Such a nice acknowledgement in that moment, like Wolfgang's favorite thing about Will is his willingness to sacrifice himself/his body/his mind for them. Maybe Wolfgang can relate to that desire - sometimes it's like Wolfgang would rather die for his cluster than live for them??
That's a great way to think about it, Capheus the character has certainly changed a lot. And Dani's fierce look was so good!!! I'm so fascinated by how much of a staple she is in Lito and Hernando's lives. Even if they aren't defining it, they're basically living as a throuple. And I forgot to write about Lito's mom being so great! And so posh, with a flair for the dramatic! Lito is probably a lot like her.
I feel like the show is sooo good at weaving in little bits of backstory for each character as the plot moves along. Wolfgang's mom - gahh it's so sad. Also makes me reconsider whether Wolfgang's Daddy Issues or Mommy issues are worse, lol.

Date: 2026-02-01 02:24 pm (UTC)Yes exactly lol. I referred to it as Goldilocks and the Three Gangsters in one of my fics lol. But Wolfgang never was interested in that life to begin with, I think he just wants to make Felix happy.
That's so well put, and absolutely on point. He and Will are both the savior types in their own way, but while Will is self-sacrificing as in I will rescue you and we will escape together, Wolfgang is more of I will distract them by killing and getting killed so you can get away. GAHHHH their dynamic is so fascinating I can't wait for you to finish the series LOL.
She's fantastic. Pouring all those glasses of champagne for people she knows aren't coming LOL gee Lito I wonder where you get it from...
Just wait. There's a lot more of his family stuff this season.
