For the spring challenge at
lands_of_magic, I made a playlist of traditional Japanese folk songs about spring.

Haru Yo Koi // Come Here Spring
English translation:
Come here, spring.'
‘Come here, spring.'
'Come quick ,spring!'
"Mi-chan" just beginning to walk,
in sandals with red thongs
is looking forward to going out
‘Come here, spring.'
'Come quick ,spring!'
A peach tree in front of Mi-chan's house,
the buds bulge out
waiting for flowers to bloom.
Sakura Sakura // Cherry Blossoms Cherry Blossoms
This vid has three different versions of this traditional song so I didn't copy/paste the English translation.
Haruno Ogawa // The Stream in Springtime
English Translation:
The stream in springtime flows peacefully,
it whispers to the violets and milk vetches on the shore,
it whispers to them 'bloom bloom'.
The stream in springtime flows peacefully,
it whispers to the group of shrimp, medaka, and small crucian carp,
to swim all day in the sunlight.
It whispers to them 'play play.'
Haru Ga Kita // Spring Has Come
English translation:
Where has it come ?
to the mountains, to the villages,
and to the fields.
Flowers come out, flowers come out,
Where do they come out ?
in the mountain, in the villages,
and in the fields.
Birds sing, birds sing,
Where do they sing?
in the mountains, in the villages,
And in the fields.
Kotori no Uta // Little Bird Song
English translation:
Little birds like singing very much.
I also sing when I'm looking for a mom.
(bird sounds)
Little birds like singing very much.
I also sing when I'm looking for a dad.
Uguisu // Japanese Bush Warbler
A bush warbler perched on a plum branch.
The bush warbler is singing, "Spring has come.
Ho-ho-hoke-kyo
Ho-ho-kekkyo
The warbler sings.
Yesterday I was in the snowy mountains, today I came to the village.
Ho-ho-hoke-kyo
Ho-ho-kekkyo
Ari san no ohanashi/ありさんのおはなし // Ants Chanting
English translation:
Have you ever heard ants chatting?
It's a small voice, but I've heard it.
They found a delicious treat.
It's in the yard of the next house.
Have you ever heard ants chatting?
It's a secret voice, but I've heard it.
They found a big peach.
Let's go eat together.
Koinobori/こいのぼり // Carp Streamer
English Translation:
Carp streamers swimming on the roof.
The big black carp is father.
A small Nishikigoi is a brother of a man.
I am happily swimming in the sky.
