Roswell New Mexico Season 2
Apr. 1st, 2023 07:23 pmMy top three episodes from season two in no particular order!
2x05 I'll Stand By You: I love when everyone's efforts to bring back Max finally pay off. This ep is a great showcase of everyone's individual relationships with Max, and how he's seen and understood differently by every character. I love the way Kyle and Liz work together, and how Rosa decides to help for her sister's sake. But best of all, Michael's relationship with Max is really given so much depth (Max is definitely someone Michael looks up to, but he also reflects on how they could have been closer if Michael hadn't pushed him away). I love how Michael's contribution is really what saves the day. I wish Max could have found out all of the things Michael had said.
2x12 Crash Into Me: This ep was an adrenaline rush. Every character felt integral to the plot, and all the pieces just started falling into place in such a cool way. Even though I already know what's going to happen, I'm still on the edge of my seat rewatching. This ep really showed the differences between Flint and Gregory too. I also love when Max and Michael work together, because they make such a good team but it doesn't happen that often.
2x10 American Woman: I love road trip tropes, and this ep featured a road trip to find answers with the whole pod squad plus Alex and Maria. They introduced Gregory!! I liked how the show portrayed Liz's anger after Arturo got picked up by ICE, and also how different types of privilege can be used to help others. It also felt a bit more truthful than other shows where things just magically work out because the characters are nice or polite or something. I loved the great conversations and connections throughout the ep. Max and Liz were so comfortable together, and even though they are both still hiding things it felt like they were getting closer to true intimacy and they were so domestic and sexy at the end of the day. The moment when Liz said Max is better in bed was played so well. Isobel and Maria were lovely as they connected about a shared ancestor and about hoping all the sacrifices of those ancestors were worth it (I feel that struggle too). Maria and Michael were so cute too. And Alex being so supportive of Maria and also getting into a fight with Michael in the same ep gave me many OT3 feels. Michael wants to keep them both safe even though he's a glass half empty kind of guy, and Alex is a glass half full type of person and wants to believe in a brighter future, and Maria is the most realistic and wants both of them to be happy.
Honorable mention to 2x06 because I love horror tropes and evil twins and that whole storyline was so spooky and fun. Plus everyone being sexy was great too. And I have many OT3 feels about the threesome scene. The three of them shared such a harrowing experience that they deserved to connect in such an intimate way afterwards.
