I watched the first four episodes of the last season of 13 Reasons Why. Another student is going to die??? I loved the speech that kicked it off - the show has always been about uniting all high schoolers and portraying the experience itself as something you need to "survive." But now I'm worried that one of the favs is going to be in that coffin. And I was REALLY hoping this last season was going to be the year the gang finally got to have a good time, ya know?

Zack and Alex kissed!!!!! I did not expect the show to deliver and then immediately break that 'ship. Although Zack actually handled it okay, and wasn't a total dick, which I appreciated. This whole season, Zack has been all up in his head, so I actually think Zack and Alex could still have a shot if Zack pulled his head out of his ass. Then again, I think I'm just shipping them at this point to be anti-Winston. That boy is creepy for reasons that I can't quite articulate yet.

The reason I stopped at episode 4 is because I really enjoyed it. After season one, I really wanted to see a creepy/haunted ghost story. They played with that a little with Hannah, but now Bryce and Monty have made appearances for most of the characters. The premise to get everyone into the woods without their phones was a bit weird (who has a senior scavenger hunt with no supervision??) but I was totally on board as they played with classic tropes like prank-gone-wrong and karma is a bitch and hiding out in an abandoned cabin. I think that ghosts are a great vehicle to talk about past or generational trauma - so I'm onboard with the show using those appearances to flesh out Clay's trauma (as well as the trauma of the other characters).

I really liked Alex and Tony's conversation about sexuality in the gym, although I'm sort of bummed Alex is the one to be going through this journey. It fits, but I'm still not really over his terrible decisions last season. Same with Jessica, really. The Diego storyline actually feels pretty realistic to me, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. I thought she was turning a new leaf. And Tyler is driving me nuts. Why does he trust authority now? And what could Sheriff Standall's angle be? He already covered up his son's crimes, but now he wants to snoop on the other students?

Still not a fan of Ani, but I think that's because her M.O. is just to keep covering everything up, instead of actually helping people face the truth. Not that it's her job to save Clay, but I didn't like how she wanted to keep the Winston info a secret.

Justin is definitely my favorite this season so far. He seems to have actually learned some things about himself, and he's straightforward and caring with his friends and his adopted parents. I'm on edge thinking something bad is bound to happen. And he's so tender with Clay even though Clay hardly deserves it - I think Justin is the only one who recognizes what's happening to him. Needless to say, the Justin/Clay feels are still going strong.
